Getting Started at FTCC

Thank you for your interest in Fayetteville Technical Community College! FTCC offers both credit and non-credit courses to maximize your options in pursuing your educational goals. Whether you are planning to enter the workforce, start a new career, or transfer to a four-year college, we can provide the tools you need to be successful.

Our Admissions Counselors are ready to help you navigate the admissions process and provide a seamless, no stress path to attending college at FTCC. They are available to answer questions, share important information, and offer one-on-one assistance throughout your first semester at FTCC.

New Student

A new student is a high school or GED graduate (OR is currently completing the last semester of high school) who has never attended a college or university.

Returning Student

A returning student is a former FTCC student returning to school after an absence of two consecutive semesters or more and plans to complete a degree, diploma, or certificate, or plans to take 12 or more credits to transfer to another school.

Transfer Student

A transfer student is one who has attended another college or university and is now seeking a degree, diploma, or certificate at FTCC.

Military Student

A military student is an active-duty, National Guard or Reserve Component student seeking to complete a degree at FTCC using military tuition assistance (TA).

High School Connections

A current local high school student may take select college classes at FTCC tuition-free during their junior and/or senior year of high school through the High School Connections program.

International Student

An international student is one who must be issued an I-20 form to be eligible to study in the United States.

Non-Degree Seeking Student

A non-degree seeking student is one who wants to take a few classes, but does not intend to seek a degree, diploma, or certificate.

Non-Credit Student

Continuing Education (non-credit) courses cover a broad range of services including career training and certifications, adult high school and GED®, business and industry training, and personal interest classes. They do not require a lengthy admission process or transcripts.

Admissions Requirements

Fayetteville Technical Community College follows an open door policy, meaning any student can attend FTCC. The submission requirements for program approval and financial aid are a current application, official transcripts, and placement testing. However, many of our health programs have additional admissions requirements.

Science Students

North Carolina Residency

If you are admitted to FTCC (or re-admitted after a lapse in enrollment) the law requires the College to classify you as either a resident or non-resident during your term of admission for tuition purposes.

If you claim North Carolina residence for tuition purposes, you must file a Residency Appeal Application prior to the beginning of the term for which you claim such residence.

Evaluating Transfer Credit

The office of evaluation reviews all official transcripts submitted by current and prospective students. It can take up to 72 business hours from the date of transcript receipt to complete an evaluation. During peak registration times, it may be longer.

Please check your WebAdvisor to see the status of any awarded credit.
